I’ve observed the reviews that indicate that this might have manufacturing defects but thus far, none here. I bought mine after using my mother in law’s smoker. She bought hers on QVC and paid a lot much more than the Amazon price. The unit hold the heat well. It really doesn’t get much easier to smoke meat having a unit like this. The cons of this are that despite my efforts to tip the unit toward the back, there is been some leakage out of the front. It appears that it’s only condensation and not drippings, so this might not be much of an problem. The inside of the unit gets messy. To me, this is flavor, however it does get filthy! I’ve created baby back ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Every time, the unit performed nicely and also the food was very great or phenomenal. Pulled pork and baby backs have been the best so far. I leave mine outside but bought the optional cover. So far, I’ve been very pleased. Amazon has been the cheapest location to get this.
